The Municipality of Brixen has replaced all incandescent traffic lights (No. 70 lights, diameter 300mm, 100W power; No. 256 lamps, 200mm diameter, power 70W - Replacement interval: 6 months, 2 thousand hours, annual consumption of electricity: 71.437kWh/anno) with special lamps to LED (300mm diameter lamps, power 15.6 W, range of replacement: 10 years, annual consumption of electricity: 10,443 kWh / year), producing a more intense light and bright light bulbs. This traffic light is a technology that uses multiple light sources, instead of a single filament and continue to operate properly with a damaged DNA strand. In case of damage the lamp is not thrown away, but it can be repaired by replacing only the fault LED. The consumption of LED lamps is 88% less than traditional traffic light, allowing every year a large energy savings. The LED lamps are guaranteed by the manufacturer for 6 years and have an average lifespan of 10 years (100 hours mile). The maintenance is minimal and the lamp life is prolonged in time.
